          Inventor, entrepreneur and marketer of innovative products.  Grew experiment using RFID technology and adapted to motorcycles into a company with 2 patent pending products and 3 more products on the drawing board.

          Voted and received “2006 Excellence in Motorcycling Award” from 4 motorcycle industry publications for innovative keyless motorcycle ignition and immobilizer.

          Hands on design, schematic capture, board layout, test and debug of electronics and C/C++ software for RTOS MC68HRC908JK3 and JK8 processor based boards using ZigBee RF and LIN bus communications. 

          Mechanical Design using AutoCAD 2000 for antenna, housing, plastics, wiring harness and mounting brackets.  Design and debug of prototypes and overseeing production through 3rd Party Contract Manufacturers.

          Hands on design of hardware and software for MC68HRC908JK3, JK8, LJ3 and MC68HC908LJ12 processors using OrCAD 10 schematic capture, board layout and CodeWarrior C/C++.  

          Designed custom masked LCD displays and LIN/CAN derived communications using a proprietary protocol for HVAC controls, mechanical design using AutoCAD 2000, RS-232, I2C.

          Plastic housing development, mechanical development of patented compressor, extruded parts and aluminum frames using AutoCAD.

          Developed Co-Generation system with microprocessor controls/sensors for a new product line using 1, 3 & 4 cylinder IC engines with single and three phase generators. 

          Development of new cast aluminum compressor to be built in China. Required extensive review of AutoCAD drawings, contractual agreements and coordination of groups across continents and cultures. 

          Submitted Patent application for antibacterial device in residential A/C systems to combat sick building syndrome.  Submitted 2 invention disclosures for a linear compressor with only 3 moving parts and electronic controls.

5/00 - 9/02 Intel, Chandler, AZ - Title: Architect / Staff Engineer

          Lead Designer of 3G Media Gateway Controller using RTOS, IXP1200 Network Processor, TI DSP and P4 using Trillium SS7 stacks and TCP/IP Signaling Gateway Controller to create a VoIP Media Gateway using C/C++, Rational Rose, UML. 

          Authored White Paper - “Application of IXP1200 in a Media Gateway Controller”.  

          Selected as a Presenter at Intel Developers Forum for Highly Available (HA) System design. 

          Submitted 19 invention disclosures for IXP1200 network processor systems using DSPs for encryption/compression/decompression algorithms and High Availability. 

          Submitted 4 patent applications as sole inventor: 20040003745, 20040003078, 20030237007, 20030074478 and others.

10/94 - 5/00 RefTec International, Clearwater, FL - Title: VP of Engineering & Consultant

          Designed hardware and software for company’s first microprocessor board as a consultant. Board is used in robotic freon process control system and instrumentation.

          Board consists of 8 and 16 processors, 10 and 12 bit a/d converters, RS-232, SPI, RTOS, LCD display and keypad, EEPROM and analog circuitry for temperature and pressure signal conditioning also differential amplifier for strain gauge interface.  Board designs and layouts were completed using OrCAD 7&9. 

          After 3 years of successful sales and follow-up consulting design work I was offered the position of VP of Engineering.  In 3 years, developed 24 products of which I introduced 15 new micro-controller and 8 electromechanical based products with UL, CSA, ARI and CE approval and ISO9001 certification. 

          Up to 36 people working under my direction - control of quarterly budget, schedules and hiring/firing. 

          Grew company from $3M to $15M in sales in 2 years.  Expertise in analog/digital hardware, C/C++ software, PCB layout, AutoCAD 14 mechanical design and coordination of manufacturing, electrical, mechanical, and chemical engineering disciplines.

11/96 - 10/97 Arzco Medical Systems, Tampa, FL - Title: Senior Engineer

          Designed Pentium based esophageal pacemaker software with simulator hardware and software. 

          Created a C++ RTOS based software research engine, which could record, analyze and playback cardiac arrhythmias from within the esophagus. 

          Designed analog circuitry using OrCAD 7 to condition and combine analog signals from several sources to simulate cardiac waveforms seen in the esophagus. 

          Submitted Invention Disclosure for a never before designed disposable emergency esophageal pacemaker and defibrillator. 

          Pioneered software mathematical detection of esophageal-QRS waveform and methods to detect arrhythmia’s with software from the esophagus, including AAI and VVI cardiac pacing from the esophagus. 

          Created necessary documentation for FDA certification of design and manufacturing processes.

4/94 - 11/96 Baxter Healthcare, Largo FL - Title: Principle Software Engineer

          Designed Pascal and C/C++ software for 680x0 based Hemo-dialysis machine (Baxter 2550) on a VAX and Tektronics development system. 

          Designed C++ i80486 based peritoneal dialysis machines (Baxter HomeChoice dialysis machine) as well as C and assembly software for MC68HC705C8 based UV germicidal exchange device using a PC and in-circuit emulators (ICE486 and EVM). 

          Created and maintained design documentation for FDA certification using System Architect CASE tools. 

          Designed digital hardware using OrCAD and software for second-order PID control of stepper and servo-motors used to maintain pressure against a reverse osmosis membrane during blood dialysis.


10/91 - 6/98 Intermedics, Angleton, TX - Title: Senior Software Engineer & Design Consultant

          Software and hardware design of Res-Q implantable defibrillator and Marathon cardiac pacemaker. Pacemaker software done in Omega Assembly language. 

          Designed Windows C++ based software simulator and debugger of in-house designed microcontroller (Omega) used in implantable cardiac applications. 

          Acting manager of ancillary products group in charge of new telemetry programmer for entire product line.  Software design using Borland C++ and pSOS. 

          After leaving Intermedics I continued working as a consultant for 3 years developing various product software simulators for pacemakers and defibrillators until Intermedics closed its doors.

8/86 - 10/91 Coulter Corporation, Hialeah, FL - Title: Senior Software Engineer II

          Software design and development of MAXM prototype and production models.  Initial prototype 80376 software was written in 80386 assembly code completely in protected mode using Intel ICE376 and Intel Assembler. 

          Pioneered software for 8 channel DMA data acquisition and DMA communications using companion chip 82370. 

          Pioneered virtual software 3-aperture system from 1 hardware aperture for blood cell sizing and counting. 

          Sent to England for 1 year to design multi-language tabletop blood cell counter (RX) for European market. Product was Intel 80186 based with all development done in C on a microVax system and PC/Intel ICE186 for debugging and development. 

          Developed DACOS robotic blood chemistry analyzer and Process Control Unit (PCU).  Developed on TI minicomputer and microprocessor emulator system.  Development in Pascal, C and Assembly.

11/81 - 8/86 Racal-Milgo Inc, Miami, FL - Title: Test Engineer II

          Developed hardware, software and microcode for 2901 bit-slice emulator used to develop bit-slice and TMS320X0 DSP based video transceiver. 

          Developed software for printer and terminal cluster controllers and other HDLC and SDLC data communication devices.  2901 bit slice microcode development performed using a VAX and Meta-Assembler.  TMS32010 DSP development in assembly language. 

          Other products developed using ICE 85 and ICE 86 in Assembly Language.
